How do I get a key?
The guide runs on your own OpenAI account. Setting one up takes about five minutes, once. It is prepaid: when the credit runs out, the guide goes quiet and nothing more is charged.
Create an account on the OpenAI platform
This is OpenAI's developer site — a separate thing from ChatGPT. A ChatGPT subscription does not include API credit.

$10 is plenty to start — driving costs roughly $0.15–0.40 an hour. Leave auto-recharge off if you want a hard cap on spending.

Press “Create new secret key”. The Default project is fine. Copy the key — it starts with sk- and is shown only once.

The key stays in this browser and is sent only to OpenAI. The Spend card below shows what each day of driving cost.
Mini costs about a third of Full; Full has the richest voice. Switching mid-drive reconnects the guide.

The guide narrates and answers in this language. Place names and lookups follow it too.
How fast the guide speaks.
How often the guide pipes up on its own. Questions are never rationed.
